Windows 10 includes a range of options for running older programs not designed for the operating system. We previously looked at using tools to troubleshoot application compatibility, which lets you modify a program to make it think it is installing on a supported version of Windows. Much older applications that pre-date Windows 95 will sometimes require a bit more work. 16-bit applications, in particular, are not natively supported on 64-bit Windows 10 because the operating system lacks a 16-bit subsystem. This can even affect 32-bit applications that utilize a 16-bit installer.

I installed vDOS but cannot change directories to the 16 bit DOS program; it says the directory does not exist. I have a 16 bit version of SkyGlobe, the old astronomy software and would like to run it on Windows 10. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Chuck S

Also last night I tried to setup another 16 bit genealogy package GEDMATE 1.1 which ran on win 3.1. Unfortunately I got an error message something like the software was trying to communicate direct with the hardware and the program closed. I saw online that there was no solution to this error message for operating systems from win xp onwards.
Hi Thank you for your great directions to set up 16bit programs in Win10. I have a 32bits win10 PC.My purpose is to execute Turbo Pascal 6. I have used in an almost 30years period (!) starting about the eighties a setup to register auditory evoked responses in children to detect hearing loss. I have a big database that I would like to try to recover for further inspection. Perhaps I can learn something I have missed.
How do you now copy 16 bit programs on floppies to cd ? It is the program software that I want to transfer to CD, not files created by software. I am fearful about how long my windows 3.1 and windows 95 programs on the floppies will last. My windows 3.1 pc has long since died and so the floppies have been stored ever since. I need to either throw the floppies or try to load the software into Virtual box or another computer.

I wrote a 16 bit c program to mimic the windows 3.1 graphics using 640480 graphics resolution. That was in 2005 just to have a real feel of linked lists and other data structures and memory management features. I wanted to make a video of that for documentation purpose. Just reminiscence and hobby.

GSview normally locates AFPL Ghostscript using registry entries created by the AFPL Ghostscript setup program. If these do not exist, GSview will assume that Ghostscript is in an adjacent directory to GSview, usually c:\Program Files\Ghostgum\gsN.NN and c:\Program Files\Ghostgum\fonts.
For Win32s, you will need to manually install both GSview and AFPL Ghostscript. The included setup programs will not run under Win32s. The self extracting archives can be unpacked with Info-ZIP unzip.
You must have the shared object version of Ghostscript 7.04 - 9.19,which should be included in recent GNU/Linux distributions.If you don't have the ghostscript shared object, you must first install Ghostscript, then the additional sharedobject files. GSview can convert PostScript or PDF file to an editable vectorusing pstoedit in an external DLL. pstoedit is Copyright by Wolfgang Glunz and is licensed withthe GNU Public Licence (GPL). pstoedit is not includedwith GSview. You will need to obtain pstoedit separately from the pstoedit homepage or from ghost/gsview/pstoedit.htm . Source code can be obtained from these sites.
Your first port of call when removing software is through the Programs and Features window. This tool is one of the best and easiest ways to find and remove almost any installed program on your device.
Most of the apps that you download come with an uninstaller executable file. Usually, this is located within the same folder that contains all the contents of that specific program. As such, if the above tricks don't seem to work, it's worth looking for an official uninstaller file.
Replace the name of program command with the actual name of the program you want to delete. For example, to delete a program called SplitCam, your command should look like this:

Double-click to enter the DF folder, then the DAGGER folder. Copy DAG213.EXE patch downloaded earlier and paste into the DF/DAGGER folder. This folder should look like below.
For the last few versions, patch notes and downloads have been mirrored to our GitHub Releases page. Starting from upcoming July builds, our Releases page will be the official site to find new builds of Daggerfall Unity. Live Builds will be retired and redirect to Releases.
This comes with a few advantages. Patch notes, source, and downloads for each release now all live together in one place, and a longer release history can be maintained. Whereas Live Builds would only keep last two or three builds, Releases can retain all new versions going forwards.
